Dear Bioenergy people

In this 2^nd newsletter I would like to give you a short status of the consortium establishment and proposal preparation phase, as well as a few comments about the Call Website.

Funding
It is still hoped that Belgium, Germany and Italy would be able to commit funds to the call at the very last minute. However, timing is running out and if funds are committed now there is going to be less time for the establishment of consortia and proposal preparation. However, I am ready to circulate the information immediate should the confirmation of commitment be received at the Call Secretariat.

Peer Reviewers
A request for nomination of Peer Reviewers was circulated from the Call Secretariat on 3rd September with a deadline 1^st October 2008. So far I have only received 2 nominations.

Virtual Market Place
I have received quite a number of enquires from people wishing to form consortia. The Virtual Market Place facility on the Call Website was intended just for this. Here you have the opportunity of keying in information with a view to getting in contact with potential partners and with a view to building a research partnership. You can include information about in which research theme(s) you are interested and perhaps key elements of your ideas for research proposals. You can use the search facility to identify researchers with whom you may wish to collaborate.

Newsletter
It would be useful if there was just one channel for communication from the Call Secretariat. However, it seems that only a limited number of people have signed up for the Newsletter. I have therefore decided to send this communication both to the people who have signed up and to those in my various group mail addresses. I would rather ensure everyone gets the information than some miss out. However, apologies if you receive communication twice.
